Fasting Khutba

On May 5th, 2010, at Jumu'ah prayers in the Brown Muslim Student Center, we spoke about fasting and Ramadan. We highlighted the glory of the fast as a public spectacle which attests to the spiritual capabilities of the average human being. We remembered the power of Ramadan to help us reach heights of devotion far beyond our normal routine. We explored the sanctity of the fast, and discussed the problem of admitting to leaving the fast without a valid excuse. As we look ahead to the arrival of Ramadan 1431 AH, we hope that we can take these words to heart and make the most of the opportunity before us.
